Lisbon is a poem

Project developed in the context of the MA in Visual Communication and Design FHNW HGK

Creating a poetic sense of place through observation and manipulation of details in ordinary images.
An investigation of the visual language/poetry of Lisbon based on three photos taken in one day and a collected narrative.

July 18,2018 -  This practice based resarch project focused on 3 photos I had taken on a one day trip to Lisbon on August 18, 2018 . Using the images as a base I created new images that attempted to capture the complex feelings of both being in the city at that moment as well as my feelings at home as I was reliving the experience . These new images focused on moving beyond the obvious visual narrative and instead attempted to capture the fleeting sensations and emotions of being in this foreign space. The final exhibition consisted of over 100 small A5 artworks, which were exhibited together alongside the 5 narratives.

The preliminary research developed in the project “Lisbon is” became the basis for my thesis: Experiments Visualising an Urban Space.
